One of the Fishing Quiz answers led to hooking up this flounder. Which answer holds the key?

QUESTION #1

When a flounder first bites a drifted bait, should you set the hook:

  • A. Immediately, when you feel the first jiggle
  • B. When you feel a heavy thump-thump-thump
  • C. 5 seconds after feeling the first bite
  • D. 10 seconds after feeling the first bite

QUESTION #2

When you hook up a flounder, it can tell you a lot about where and when you need to position your boat in order to catch more fish. What’s the most important factor to take note of, the moment you get a fish on the line?

  • A. water depth
  • B. water clarity
  • C. strength of the current
  • D. speed of your drift

The answer to these questions is… something you’ll see in Got Bait?, of course! In the meantime, here’s a pair of flounder fishing tips from the show.

TIP #1

As the tide changes, usually, flounder start moving. They’ll be heading for shallower water if it’s an incoming or high tide, and for deeper water if it’s a dropping or low tide.

TIP #2

Even when drifting, you’ll catch more flounder if you give your lure or bait some action. In the show, you’ll see four different anglers use four different jigging motions to entice the flounder into biting. Which worked the best? Well to find that out, you’ll have to watch the show.
