Bavaria Yachts Buys Nautitech

With this acquisition, Germany's biggest sailboat builder gains a strong foothold in the multihull world.

As reported first on boats.com’s German site, then by uk.boats.com, Germany’s biggest builder of recreational boats, Bavaria Yachts, has bought the French catamaran builder Nautitech.

The Nautitech 441 won Cruising World magazine's 2013 Boat of the Year award for catamarans under 45 feet.

It’s a move that  immediately extends Bavaria’s reach into the market for cruising multihulls, boats that have contributed hugely to the success of charter operations worldwide in the past couple of decades. The big cats are also becoming more popular among private owners as families have taken charter vacations and come home hooked on stability and spaciousness.

With the acquisition, Bavaria will not only gain the existing Nautitech designs, but will also partner with Bruno Voisard, the founder and driving force behind Nautitech’s quick rise to success and, by extension, with the Marc Lombard Design Group, a talented cohort of naval architects, designers, and boatbuilding experts in La Rochelle who have helped bring Voisard’s visions to life.
