Sunday Sailing Quiz: The Answers

Two very different sailboat rigs, the same length. What boats belong with them?

Yesterday we shared a picture of two rigs lying side by side that were almost exactly the same length—and otherwise completely different. (Read Sunday Sailing Quiz: Whose Rigs These Are I Think I Know) We asked you to guess what kind of boats they belonged to.

Here are the answers. Rig #1 (anodized black aluminum) will soon be stepped on the deck of a 1986 Express 27, shown below in her former harbor of Blue Hill, Maine.

Rig #2 (varnished spruce) will step on the keel of a Herreshoff Marlin, built in 1938. Here she is putting that rig to use in the low sun angle of September, 2013.
