Pro-Line Joins Forces with Hemingway Family

And Ernest would approve, according to his grandchildren.

What better way to signal the rebirth of a boat brand than to announce a tie-in with legendary author and fishing icon, Ernest Hemingway? That’s exactly what Pro-Line has done with the new Hemingway Edition boats, unveiling the 23 Sport at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Pro-Line 23 Sport Hemingway edition

The Pro-Line 23 Hemingway edition is as good-looking as it is practical.

This is more than just a surface tribute to the famous sportsman and his beloved Pilar.  It is a fishing boat he would have enjoyed for trolling and casting for trophy species. The builder worked closely Ernest’s grandchildren Mina and John, both passionate anglers themselves, and the result is a model that as practical as it is head-turning.

The idea wasn’t born in a boardroom, but where all good fishing boat ideas should be–at a fishing tournament. In this case it began when Nick Miller, Vice President at Pro-Line’s parent company Baja Marine, ran into Mina Hemingway.

“One thing led to another,” says Miller, “and here we are.  We are thrilled to be working with the Hemingway family.”

Notable highlights of the Hemingway package include the custom Hemingway Signature hull-side wrap reminiscent of the venerable Pilar. The innovatively angled rigid T-Top allows for generous storage and incorporates rocket launchers because it’s a sure bet Ernest would want every rod on the boat in action as he trolled the Gulfstream for mahi. The flat black powder coated bow railing, T-Top and seat rails add further sophistication, while the aluminum helm seat boasts upgraded, signature embroidered upholstery, a custom leaning post with backrest and even more rod holders. The folding rear seat also features the upholstery upgrades.

Ernest would also be inspired to samba by the beautiful sounds emanating from the AM/FM stereo with four speakers and iPod control. And a long day of angling far offshore is made all the more comfortable by the convenient console head equipped with a Porta Potti.

This easily trailered boat goes just as fast on the water as it does on the highway, topping out at 53 mph with a single Mercury Verado 300 outboard.  Which brings us back to the list of Hemingway add-ons, which include upgraded Verado Tilt Control.

Looking for something a little larger?

“This is just one of many boats we’ll be developing in concert with the Hemingway family,” says Johnny Walker, CEO of Baja Marine. Ultimately, the Hemingway Edition package will be available on Pro-Line models from 21′ to 35′.

“We are very happy to be able to express my grandfather’s passion for the water, boats and fishing with this spectacular new line of Pro-Line boats,” concludes John Hemingway.
