Remember Your First Boat?

Wax nostalgic with us for a moment or two.

There’s something special about your first boat that you’ll always remember. We asked you on Twitter to send us pictures of your first vessels, and you were happy to share! A few of the submissions:

Thanks to Jack Phillips for sharing this picture of his first boat, a Sea Ray 280.

Thanks to Nic Fieldhouse for sharing this iPhone picture of his GK24.

Thanks to Ben for sharing a picture of his first boat, a Sea Ray 200 SR.

If you still own your first boat, what kind is it, and what do you love about it? If you have moved on to other vessels, what do you remember most about your first?

Also: Send your boat renovation pictures to editor@boats.com. We want to see what you are doing to keep these babies lookin’ good and hummin.’

  1. I built my first boat when I was 16, a 12 ft hydroplane that went like stink with a 15hp. Johnson. I sped around Little Lake in Ontario near Midland jumping yacht waves for fun. I was jumping a particularly big one and as I crashed back into the water the transom split in half and with it the Johnson and half the transom went to the bottom of the lake. Needless to say that was pretty much the end of my first boat. I wish I had a picture.

  2. Now that’s a first boat you won’t soon forget! What was the construction style/material?
