2012 BVI Billfish Fishing Tournament at Bitter End Yacht Club
Serious blue marlin anglers will compete head to head in this all-release tournament.
Dedicated billfish anglers take note: the BVI (British Virgin Island) Billfish Tournament is set for July 30 through August 2, 2012, at the Bitter End Yacht Club on the north sound of Virgin Gorda. All of the boats participating in this all-release blue marlin tournament will get a complimentary membership to the Quarterdeck Club at the marina (which was just renovated last year), but don’t forget—you’ll need to arrive early to clear customs, and get a BVI fishing license plus a BVI tournament license, in order to participate.
“We’re committed to making the BVI Billfish Tournament a cornerstone event,” said Sandra Graham, COO of the Bitter End. “In addition to Blue Marlin fishing, specific to this particular competition, we have some of the world’s finest fishing, including inshore, tarpon and permit fishing, coupled with some of the best bone-fishing in the Caribbean, and we want more anglers to come discover Bitter End as a world class fishing destination.”
Lines-in will begin at 8:30 AM, lines-out is at 5:00 PM, and the most important part of the tournament—cocktail hour—begins at 8:00 PM and is followed by dinner. All IGFA saltwater angling rules will be in effect, and catches are proven with a photo plus an angler’s blue marlin release affidavit. Each qualifying blue marlin release earns 500 points.
