Hanse 415: Taking It Up a Notch

The new 415 takes the place of the successful Hanse 400, of which more than 700 were built.

Early in 2012 Hanse Yachts began showing the new 415, which was designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co, just as her predecessor, the Hanse 400, was. Hanse says the new boat is more than an evolution. The length of the waterline has increased by 60 centimeters and there’s more beam aft, which creates all kinds of additional space in the aft cabin and in the cockpit. While the sail area remains unchanged, the new model is expected to be more lively under sail.

The new Hanse 415 features a large cockpit, low coachroof, and a T-shaped keel. Control lines are tucked under the deck.

A long companionway hatch, gently descending steps into the cabin, bright interior, low-slung coach roof, German Admiral’s Cup mainsheet system, folding swim platform, control lines led under deck, a T-keel, self-tending jib, and vinylester used in the hull laminate, plus the option of Hanse’s Smart Mooring System, are the most notable features of the 415.

The boat is offered in two different interior layouts, with two or three staterooms. There are also options for galley stowage space, and one or two head compartments.
