Which charity fishing tournament is the best?

When it comes to charity fishing tournaments, we love ‘em all. But which is the best charity fishing tournament of all, and more importantly: which one is your favorite? Here are three top contenders; let us know if one of these—or any others you know of—is the best, in the comments section below.

Bluewater Babes Fishing for a Cure – With a history of just three years, this tournament has already raised over $130,000 for the Cancer Alliance for Help and Hope, and H.O.W. Participation last year topped 80 boats, with over 1,000 people in attendance. The tournament has even drawn the attention of country music star Alan Jackson, who fished in the event with his family on the aptly-named Hullbilly.

Fishing for Charities — This is no mere tournament, it’s an entire tournament trail that brings bass anglers into philanthropic fishing. With events in several mid-Atlantic states, the trail benefits multiple charities including Make A Wish of Virginia, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and the Wounded Warrior Project.

World Sailfish Championship — This tournament, held in Key West, FL, mixes charity with good old-fashioned tournament winnings—including a purse of $1,000,000. The proceeds benefit a mix of charities including the Don Shula Foundation and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation. April 17, 2012 marks the start of this tournament’s 10th year, and over 700 anglers are expected to compete.
